The Charter of Demands Prepared together by Ganga Bhangan Pratirodh Action Nagarik Committee of Ganga Bhangan Pratirodh Mancha of Kolkata contains substantial action point to stop this created anomaly: Amendment of the Relief Code of the Government of India to incorporate river erosion as a disaster, so that the affected people can exercise their rights to early warning before erosion, rescue, relief, and sustainable rehabilitation. 1947 map of Malda has to be consulted for demarcation of West Bengal and Jharkhand border for resolving the statelessness issue of the 'Char' dwellers.

The victims of river erosion have been forced time and again, to stand up against the ugly faces of civilization. Environmental refugees, as they should rightly be called, lead a totally miserable life. They have been displaced time and again, lost all their belonging time and again, schools and educational institutions were engulfed by the river time and again. The process continued for more than forty years.
